Hurricane and Storm Performance
Design Strength & Hurricane Resistance – All Envirocast walls are evaluated as structural walls per Section 1604.8.2 of the Florida Building Code and utilize the required design dead and live loads of this section.
Envirocast walls can be designed for up to 250 MPH winds, typical Florida design wind speeds range between 120-200 mph. Envirocast’s solid 3” concrete face exceeds the 2” minimum set forth in the Florida Building Code Section 1626.4 High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) requirements for resistance to Wind-Borne Debris and is deemed to comply.

Florida Building Code Compliance
Envirocast Florida Product# FL47168
Envirocast has been approved by the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation in accordance with subsection 61G20-3.011, F.A.C., and validated in accordance with Rule 61G20-3.006, F.A.C. The approval confirms compliance with structural requirements of the Florida Building Code for components that are part of the building envelope and structural frame.
Fire Resistance
The Envirocast 10.5-inch-thick wall panel system has a minimum 2-hr fire-resistance rating in accordance with ASTM E-119. The ASTM test, which includes exposing a loaded panel assembly to fire with temperatures exceeding 1800 degrees Fahrenheit for 2 hours, confirms a building assembly can withstand a controlled fire for at least two hours while containing flames, limiting heat transfer, and maintaining structural integrity.
The ASTM E-119 fire-resistance rating makes the prefabricated Envirocast system a single, rapidly installed, code-compliant product for separation walls between townhomes and other multi-family applications. Pursuant to the Florida Building Code, Section 302.1, Table 706.4, Envirocast walls meet the fire wall resistance rating for Groups F-2 Industrial, S-2 Storage, R-3 and R-4 Residential.
In addition, Envirocast walls meet the minimum fire barrier requirements for Table 707.3.10 for Groups A, B, E, F-2, H-4, H-5, I, M, R, S-2. This makes them ideal for use in both commercial and residential applications, and for fire partitions pursuant to Section 708 of the Florida Building Code.

Florida Energy Code Compliance
Envirocast walls exceed all Florida Building Code requirements for the building thermal envelope with integrally-cast expanded polystyrene insulation (EPS).
Pursuant to Section R301.1 of the 2023 Florida Building Code, Energy Conservation, Eighth Edition, Florida counties are in climate zones 1A (Broward, Collier, Hendry, Lee, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Palm Beach) and 2A (other FL counties) and all counties are considered Warm and Humid.
Section R402.1.2 provides minimum R values of 4 and 6 for insulation in Mass Walls in Climate Zones 1 and 2 respectively. Envirocast walls include insulation with average values of R-6.9 in the 8” wall and R-9.9 in the 10.5” wall.
In addition, Section R402.1.4 provides maximum U-Factor values for Mass Wall assemblies of 0.197 for Climate Zone 1 and 0.165 for Climate Zones 2. Envirocast 8” and 10.5” finished walls have U-Factors of 0.085 and 0.063, respectively for a standard height panel (inverse values equate to R=12 And R=16).
LEED® and HERS®
Envirocast precast wall systems for Florida will contribute to LEED credits, and will reduce the HERS Index for homes due to the standard design features that include local manufacturing, integrally cast and continuous insulation with U or R values that exceed code, and use of recycled materials.

Speed of Installation
Build Faster, Sell Faster
Due to shortages of onsite trade labor, the residential housing industry is unable to keep up with the demand for rapid home construction. Factory prefabrication greatly increases the speed of residential home construction and shortens the time to occupancy. Rapid construction speed makes the Envirocast wall system the ideal choice for builders and developers who need to build faster and get homes to market sooner. Exterior walls for a small single-family home can be installed in hours vs days, including integral insulation and studs for maximum efficiency.
Time Matters
When time is a priority and quality is a requirement, builders turn to Envirocast wall systems, engineered and designed to increase speed of construction. Flexible designs are highly adaptable and can be easily sized to meet specific project requirements.
Trade Consolidation through Prefabrication
Trade Consolidation
Envirocast walls combine the work of multiple trades through factory prefabrication, eliminating costly time from the onsite construction schedule as well as the delays often resulting from interdependent trades. Same day wall installation requires no long-term site space or costly site cleanup and disposal of CMU waste piles.
Multitrade Challenges
CMU construction requires multiple trades and numerous process steps that are interdependent and time consuming. In addition, CMU construction requires valuable dedicated site space for materials. Envirocast streamlines and simplifies residential construction.
Strength, Quality, Compliance, and Sustainability
Envirocast precast concrete walls are manufactured in Florida with concrete that has compressive strengths typically in excess of 5,500 psi and includes fly ash and other additives that enhance durability and longevity.
Strength and Durability
The strength, durability, and fire resistance of concrete makes Envirocast the ideal wall solution in areas affected by severe weather events, such as hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding, or wildfires.
Consistent Quality
Envirocast walls are manufactured in a factory-controlled environment to the rigid standards of the CXT quality control program allowing for inspection before delivery to your jobsite. Plant controlled conditions allow for tighter tolerances and sharper, cleaner edges.
Compliance
Envirocast wall systems meet State of Florida and national building codes, as well as the latest energy codes.
Sustainability
Envirocast will make significant contributions to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and Home Energy Rating System (HERS) standards and complies with the latest green building practices. Thermal properties, continuous insulation, and tighter building envelope provided by ENVIROCAST will typically reduce the HERS Index, improve the Blower Door Test, and require no additional insulation to meet Energy Star when compared to some conventional homebuilding practices.
In addition, Envirocast incorporates recycled materials, and up to 95 percent of Envirocast materials are reclaimable and can be recycled into new structures. Envirocast is designed and engineered to be the future of green building.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are precast concrete walls hurricane-rated?
Yes. Envirocast precast concrete walls are evaluated as structural walls under Section 1604.8.2 of the Florida Building Code and can be designed to resist wind loads of up to 250 MPH. The solid 3-inch concrete face exceeds the 2-inch minimum set out in Florida Building Code Section 1626.4 for High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) wind-borne debris resistance.
What wind speed can precast concrete wall systems withstand?
Envirocast walls can be designed for wind speeds of up to 250 MPH. Typical Florida design wind speeds range from 120 to 200 MPH, so the system can be specified with capacity above standard Florida requirements.
How long do precast concrete wall systems last in Florida?
Envirocast walls are manufactured from concrete with compressive strength typically above 5,500 psi, with fly ash and other additives that support long-term durability in Florida coastal conditions. Concrete construction does not rot, warp, or attract pests, which may extend service life compared with wood-framed alternatives. Actual service life depends on design, finish, and maintenance.
How do precast concrete walls compare to poured concrete and block (CMU) walls?
Envirocast panels arrive prefabricated, fully insulated, and pre-studded, so exterior walls for a single-story home can typically be set within one day. Cast-in-place concrete is formed, poured, and cured on site, and concrete masonry unit (CMU) walls are laid unit by unit, both of which add time and separate trades for insulation and framing.
